The ecology of electric cable bacteria, a newly discovered filamentous bacteria that bridge two redox reactions that occur separated by several centimeters: oxygen reduction and sulfide oxidation. My PhD project focus on the natural occurrence of cable bacteria, its sulfide source, the description of their associated electric currents and their competition against Fe reduction for the availiable sulfide in the suboxic zone of aquatic sediments.
