Central Library Manager
-
Sep 2020 - Present
I manage a busy Central Library with over 35 employees and directly supervise the Adult Services, Youth Services, and Circulation department heads. In addition, I oversee the purchasing and collection development for the Adult collection with an annual yearly budget of approximately $40,000. I also serve as Library liaison to the Beatley Central Library Friends group, and work with local government agencies and organizations to create mutually productive partnerships and ensure that the Library is represented in City planning. Moreover, I work with Library administration to analyze programs and services, implement new procedures and workflows, and write new policies.

Youth Services Manager
-
Jun 2014 - Sep 2020
As Youth Services Manager at Alexandria Library's Beatley Central Library I manage a staff of 4 youth services librarians, purchase materials for our youth services collection, work with local organizations to set up outreach opportunities and partnerships, coordinate and host special programs such as STEM programs with NASA and the University of Maryland and author visits, work with our other three branches to implement city-wide initiatives, and present a weekly story time program. I also brainstorm and support innovative, creative, and fun library programs for children and teens within our library.Recently, my team and I just finished a series of 22 new programs over the past 8 months for a $7,500 Curiosity Creates Grant that I received last year from ALSC and Disney. Our programs were collectively titled STEAMtivity and consisted of high-tech and low-tech hands-on open-ended programs for children ages 6-14. With our grant money we purchased Lego Mindstorms Robots, Arduinos, MaKey MaKeys, laptop computers, iPad Minis, Strawbees, and littleBits snap circuits.

Youth Services Librarian, Librarian 3
-
Jul 2012 - Jun 2014
As a Youth Services Librarian, Librarian 3 I help plan and implement successful, efficient youth services programming throughout Bucks County. Currently, I am working to standardize the county's youth services programming, opening channels for sharing ideas among our amazing librarians, and helping to create programs for large audiences of 60+ people and passive programs that can always be available to patrons in the library. I also work with other youth services librarians in a mentor capacity and manage my branch's social media presence. In addition, I plan and present storytimes for families, babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, prepare and present fun programs for grade school children, and create opportunities for and supervise numerous teen volunteers. I also promote the library through outreach in schools and camps to groups of 50-500 children and partner with local organizations to host programs and events within the library.Last year two coworkers and I wrote a successful LSTA grant for $28,920 to bring iMac Creativity Stations loaded with creative software into our 7 branch libraries to provide a new and exciting means for creativity, exploration, and learning for kids and teens. In October I was part of a team that introduced branch staff throughout the county to new technology and I am currently creating training guides and spec sheets for every software program on our Creativity Stations for use by staff and volunteers and training our first teen Creativity Mentor volunteers.Furthermore, I am very fortunate to work in a library system that values continuing education and I have taken 3 early literacy classes with early literacy expert Saroj Ghoting and also attended PLA's Results Bootcamp in Nashville with Sandra Nelson and June Garcia. Currently, I am participating in a 2-year-long workshop on innovation led by Sandra Nelson and June Garcia that is designed specifically for Bucks County Free Library.
