Bio
France Donnay
I have worked closely with Diana over the last 6 years, since returning to Brussels after an international public health career with UNICEF, UNFPA and the Bill&MelindaGates Foundation. Diana is very successful in attracting, mobilizing and retaining exceptional people around the cause of maternal health and the organization she founded and leads, Mothers at Risk (MAR). She works hard to empower members to be invested in helping shape the organization, and finding their place in it. She endeavors to tap into their unique talents and motivations, and to build a strong, cohesive team. She reads people of very diverse backgrounds very well and leverages the best of their competencies to optimize their contribution to the team’s overall strength. Diana always brings intellectual rigor to her work and promotes a high level of intellectual acumen in the organization through strategic planning, the development of impact- and logical frameworks, project design, research and analytical writing, leading substantive discussions, framing of issues, etc. She deals with conceptual complexity very comfortably. She has been very adept at mobilizing a range of partners and stakeholders (private, corporate, institutional, public) to underpin and support MAR’s mandate. She mobilizes a range of resources for MAR and its local partners and projects, by tapping into different networks and external partnerships and pivoting between different constituencies (funders, donors, academic partners, project partners, advisers, volunteers, etc). She has been a committed advocate and a persuasive communicator for MAR and its mission at events, conferences, workshops, communication efforts, etc. She articulates messages eloquently and compellingly both orally and in writing and is able to communicate very effectively in English, Spanish and French. Diana is very diligent and precise, and she is also engaging and warm. It has been a pleasure working with her for MAR and during joint efforts with partners and donors to better the lives and health of vulnerable women around the world.
