Sophia Forum promotes and advocates for the rights, health, welfare and dignity of women living with HIV through research, raising awareness and influencing policy. They develop advocacy campaigns based on information and research on the issues affecting women living with HIV, build relationships with policymakers and create partnerships with organisations and individuals delivering support services for women living with HIV in the UK. As an independent consultant, I am providing support work in researching for and translating online resources and booklets on women living with HIV and accessibility to PrEP. This process involves accurately conveying complex medical concepts while ensuring that the language remains understandable and relatable to the target audience, which consists of peri-menopausal and menopausal women living with HIV. To ensure this, I will be collaborating with specialist doctors and nurses to review the translated content to ensure that medical terminology, treatment options, and health-related advice are correctly conveyed and culturally relevant. SASH London (Support and Advice on Sexual Health) is a project delivered by Turning Point, the NAZ Project, London Friend, and METRO Charity in the three London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. TARSHI (Talking About Reproductive and Sexual Health Issues) works towards expanding sexual and reproductive choices in people’s lives in an effort to enable them to enjoy freedom from fear, infection and reproductive and sexual health problems. Their eLearning courses have been designed to build and strengthen the capacity in order to understand and apply knowledge of sexuality and SRHR in their lives and at work. For this internship, I offered support work on TARSHI's eLearning course "Reflect, Realign, Renew: manage stress and keep burnout away" as well as conducted research and writing work to update content on TARSHI's websites/online properties. Along with this, I completed TARSHI's eLearning on Basics and Beyond (an introduction to foundational-level concepts around gender and sexuality) which is offered in moderated, self-paced and blended modules. The Women's Studies Centre at Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, aims to promote feminist ideas, remove gendered binaries & lead societal change through education, awareness & training. Our seminars, lectures and activities bring together a community of students, teachers and researchers involved in feminist movements and scholarships. As their President (2020-2021), I supervised 50+ events for 350 students in the academic year by organising Certificate Course Classes, lectures, workshops and activities for members and guiding Advertising, Editorial, Research and Organising Team members. The events were conducted on a variety of topics within the field of gender studies, such as gender and caste politics, disability and accessibility, sustainable menstruation, queer literature, labour policies in India, as well as public health and global care chains with reference to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Azad Foundation works across social and religious divides to enable resource-poor women to empower themselves by engaging them in viable non-traditional livelihood options. Their work is committed to breaking patriarchal boundaries and structures so that the women can exercise control over their lives and live a life of dignity. This is done through transformative capacity building programs around the self and the skills needed for non-traditional livelihood, based on adult learning principles. During my internship, I collected data on COVID-19 relief work, compiling and distributing ration within resource-poor communities all over India. I conducted interviews and prepared case studies of urban women living in poverty. Further, I translated and edited narratives of experiences in the COVID-19 lockdown from regional languages to English. Show less
