I worked at USS full time for two years, providing support and new feature development for legacy applications. I also did database cleanup and migration work, and provided data extracts to various teams upon request. I then transitioned into doing contracting hourly work for USS, providing ongoing support for legacy applications that are being replaced. I assist in furthering the education of students in a rigorous, full-stack web development bootcamp through Trilogy Education, which has joined with the University of New Hampshire. The curriculum teaches the entire MERN stack in a six month program, so it's critical for me as a teaching assistant to serve as a tutor and guide for the students in the course. Along with general tutoring in the MERN stack, I also grade assignments, keep track of time during lessons to help the instructor stay on schedule, and occasionally write utility scripts to make my job and the jobs of fellow teaching assistants easier. I maintained and managed a large network of virtual machines–both Unix-based systems and Windows, as well as setting up and maintaining network connections for virtual and physical machines. My team and I worked in a Scrum environment to match the daily software needs of a global corporation. I wrote, improved and refactored automation code written in Ruby, Groovy and Windows Batch, and integrated it with Jenkins and Git to manage automatic code deployments and releases. When I first began working at RCC, I did various tech support tasks for customers while also working on enhancements and bug fixes for assorted websites written in Perl, Java, JQuery, Javascript and HTML & CSS. I then became a pure programmer that added enhancements, fixes bugs, designs and implemented new solutions to customer problems, and spoke to customers about said problems. I also answered emails from customers regarding program/website usage, bug fixes and enhancement requests. My work included both front-end and back-end programming mainly in Perl, Javascript, JQuery, MySQL and Oracle SQL. Show less
