Plant Manager’s Process Improvement Team (CI) -Started up the Cartersville’s Brewery Q&FS department. Developed and managed the sanitation and chemical budget. Initiated the aseptic/non-aseptic cleaning programs. Created SOP’s for equipment/ facility detail cleaning, microbiology sampling and sterilization which exceeded FDA industry standards. Led auditor for facility and Q&FS audits that drove performance levels to gold industry standards. Tracked and reported key performance indicators including Right the First Time, Faulty, Consumer Complaints, Period Infrastructure and Equipment Cleaning (PIC/PEC). Drive corrective actions if trends indicate potential out of compliance conditions• Performed facility audits and implemented yearly projects for plant facility upgrades ranging from $10,000 to $250,000. • Installed an automatic chemical feed system to 7 pasteurizers. The previous system manually fed chemicals in uncontrolled proportions. The automatic chemical system provided controlled mixture of 3-5% solution. This saved the company $250,000 per year. • Reduced the plant’s HVAC electricity bill $66,000 per year by implementing a project to connect all the HVAC units to one central control station, which allowed the units to work more efficiently. • Developed start up and preventative maintenance procedures for the reclaim water project, so reclaim carbon filtered backwash water could be used for landscape irrigation and reclaimed production rinse water to reuse/retreat for pasteurizers. These saved the company 87,992,000 gallons of water per year. Show less

    • Mechanical Continuous Improvement Engineering-(CI)
      • 1994 - 2000

Mechanical Process Engineer - Plant Manager Process Improvement Team – Project Management Skills on implementing process improvement projects to increase line efficiencies, reduce process loss and lower utilities cost. Provided leadership in resolving manufacturing process issues, utilizing reporting tools that identified quality, productivity and maintenance opportunities. Directed activities that drove asset utilization through equipment analysis and reliability. Technical resource for Packaging Operations in utilities usage, pasteurizer operating systems, reclaim water collection systems, and chemical distribution systems. • Plant Start up with aseptic experience• Optimized in-process troubleshooting efforts to resolve problems that were preventing the can lines from reaching their monthly efficiency goals. This was done by daily auditing can lines for non-performing equipment and writing work orders to correct maintenance issues. Also, improved the preventive maintenance programs by ensuring the PMs were timely and included critical analysis of major can line equipment. Due to this effort the can lines’ quarterly efficiency rose from 82% to 91%, which equated to an increase of 7,800 cases per shift across all the can lines. • Reduced the brewery’s compressed air usage by lowering the maintained pressure set point from 82 to 70psi. To help accomplish this, performed a detailed study of packaging equipment to determine which machines needed air amplifiers so they could operate at a pressure higher than 70 psi. The calculated daily compressed air usage savings is 150scfm, which translates into a savings of $12,000 per year. • Saved 1,821,600 gallons of water per year by stopping the routine process of dumping the line pasteurizers by upgrading the pasteurizer water weekend holdover program. • Sanitary Design Engineer - Sanitary design approval & project upgrades - (SME) troubleshooting micro issues on existing equipment, new equipment & facilities.
