I have known and worked with Devon Trew for nearly 10 years. As Managing Director of Ledaine Trading I oversaw the implementation of a new integrated forecasting, supply chain and reporting system throughout the whole group and as Systems Executive Devon was invaluable in carrying out this project. Devon has the ability to understand the overall architecture and requirements of a very complex business supply chain as well as the very high level of technical skill to be able to work on the smallest details. In addition to his excellent financial skills, he has deep, expert knowledge of our entire IT platform. He has been responsible for setting up ad integrating our sales forecasting system (SO99), accounting, inventory and manufacturing system (Syspro) and our leading-edge warehouse management and order system (Ador). Ledaine Trading is a vertically integrated manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer of home décor products with 150 stores in 11 countries and various manufacturing plants in South Africa. As well as supply to other retailers we are embedded in a large Walmart owned chain. This required that we integrated our entire system from forecasting to point of sale with their data. Devon has the analytical skill to understand their systems, extract what was need daily and integrate into our overall supply chain. This in turn informed our forecasting system which then drove our procurement (up to 6 months in advance), manufacturing job cards, warehouse management and eventual distribution and sale through our partners tills. In addition, Devon seamlessly integrated our distribution partner’s dispatch and waybill systems into our supply chain. Devon was given the responsibility to analyze what was needed on an overall conceptual level and then design, procure and set up all the software and hardware needed to implement. Due to his very high level of technical skills in both IT and finance, he was able to choose various options from server farms down to handheld scanners and present costed options to the Directors for approval. This made the whole process of implantation easier and was carried out at every instance within budget and on time. In this respect Devon’s interpersonal skills were outstanding with suppliers, customers and IT vendors all commenting on his excellent communication and especially his polite and helpful manner. Devon has continued to maintain and improve our systems especially with the growth into online sales and webpage management, as well as custom designed products requiring a unique bill of material configuration for manufacturing per customer. His work ethic is outstanding and even after-hours Devon would not hesitate to help with any query. I believe Devon would be an asset to any company, especially one looking for a senior, highly skilled executive who is able to work from the overall macro level down to the smallest detail. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
