Devan Harrison is an aspiring professional in the sports administration field who demonstrates both outstanding promise as well as excellent interpersonal skills. I served as Devan's instructor in an undergraduate course at Saint Joseph's College of Maine during the spring, 2021 semester, and he proved to be one of the top students in the class. Currently he works as an intern in the Thornton Academy Athletic Department, where he performs a number of tasks, including event planning and preparation, scheduling, research, and game day management. Devan has a wide range of skills and expertises that make him an outstanding candidate for a position in the sports management industry. He is a versatile individual who is detail-oriented and, through his internship at our school, has proven to be adept at both planning and executing an event. He also possesses a positive "can do" attitude that is required of the twenty-first century leader. Devan understands that serving in a leadership role requires the individual to be able to delegate tasks while also being "hands-on" as needed. Devan's background as a student-athlete at both the high school and collegiate level has prepared him well for a career in this field. As a high school student on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, he was a three-sport performer who excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. The quarterback of his football team, he was placed in a significant leadership role on this team and helped lead his small high school to significant success on the gridiron. He also reached the 1000-point threshold during a successful schoolboy basketball career. His passion for baseball led him to become a pitcher at Saint Joseph's College, a perennial contender for top honors in the GNAC and one of the top Division III programs in New England. Throughout these experiences, he has learned the value of sport in teaching life lessons to young people and the responsibilities necessary for maintaining a busy co-curricular schedule while achieving academic success. I am very confident that Devan Harrison will prove to be an asset to any school or company that selects him to be part of its organization. A true team player, he brings positive energy, passion, and commitment to those groups with which he is affiliated.
