Other community Services she was a member of the Community Emergency Response Team in Gilroy and Morgan Hill. Since moving to Colorado she has continued her community services with the Colorado Federal Executive Board serving as Secretary for the Emergency Preparedness Council. With all her community service activities she has continued furthering her education as well as working full time for Nasa Ames Research Center. Rhoda Johnson W7RHO

I highly recommend Desiree for any position that requires initiative, creative solutions, and inventiveness. In my position as a District Emergency Coordinator for Amateur Radio and Chief RACES Operator for our county Office of Emergency Services, I've helped hundreds of people get their amateur radio license and mentored them do leadership positions. I've seen Desiree get her license and grow and learn everything she could. I've seen her come up with solutions and seek information to improve her radio operations. She went on to upgrade to the highest level of amateur radio operator. A typical example of the work is a yearly exercise called ARRL Field Day. Given COVID rule changes and restrictions, and their recent move to our county, they had numerous challenges to make this work. She and her husband prepared a standalone power system, deployed an antenna in their backyard that worked great. They also worked out alternate communications to help coordinate their efforts on a secondary channel. They had the highest event scores in the area. She became a member of our county Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) team when they moved into our county and I was in the process of being evaluated to our Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) team before they moved on to Colorado. Our RACES team consists of our top 15 volunteers that are trusted by the county to help and lead emergency communications. This is why I recommend Desiree Baccus. Best regards, Timothy S. Takeuchi San Benito County COM-L: Communication Unit Leader - W6TST Chief ACS/RACES Officer / ARES DEC: District Emergency Coordinator / ARRL PIO Sea Otter Classic Volunteer Communications Leader
