I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Des on a task to proactively grow business pipeline. This task was based on an idea which Des had independently envisioned and presented to senior stakeholders within the business. I found Des to be highly knowledgeable, proactive and engaged throughout our collaboration. Des has been extremely helpful in my development within my role in the solution design team, helping me gain knowledge of technical terms and helping me understand complex deals. Des has given me the task to manage and input into the solution tracker monitoring previous deals, alongside this he has gone through them with me and really helped gain a wider view of bids. The Security Solution Manager works closely with sales teams to create winning security solutions that deliver client value, are technically viable and profitable. I am responsible for bringing together a combination of IBM and non-IBM offerings, services, labour, assets, hardware, and software to meet client security requirements.I ensure that we propose only what we can deliver, that we identify and manage risk and that solutions are optimised wherever possible by incorporating standard service products and by leveraging global delivery capabilities.I take account of broader product and account plans to anticipate, develop and define innovative services solutions which match our Client's tactical and strategic requirements. I regularly collaborate with multi-national, multi-disciplined teams of subject matter experts and establish the foundation of our security solution. I heavily influence sales, HR, Legal and delivery strategies for the engagement. I frequently orchestrate the development of complex, multi-year, custom solutions and associated cost cases.I support the development of colleagues and pro-actively share reusable reference material, to help build the capabilities of our rapidly expanding security solutioning organisation to support improved efficiencies on future deals. I find it an interesting and varied role, best suited to an individual who is passionate about security and keen to develop career wise. It is also a demanding high visibility role and comes with all the pressures that you would expect in a commercial environment, working to challenging deadlines on diverse and complex bids. Show less
