DEDfest is a yearly, multi-day film festival featuring the best in independent international genre cinema. We bring action, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and documentary films from around the world to regional audiences. DEDfest recently celebrated its tenth edition this past fall. We have a strong focus on promoting industry initiatives, and frequently work with governmental organizations and producers guilds to promote opportunities for local filmmakers. And we are also committed to diversity in the industry. We recently lent our support to DEDfemme, a spin-off screening series showcasing the works of female genre film directors. Future initiatives include launching an all-woman genre film festival and an aboriginal genre screenplay competition. My duties include: • Planning the overall focus and direction of DEDfest and DEDfest events; • Programming and booking films and negotiating screening fees; • Organizing live entertainment on-site; • Promotions and marketing; • Graphic design; • Fundraising and grant applications; • Organizing volunteers Contact Kevin Martin, Festival Co-ordinator at 780.901.6941 Show less
