Because of my extensive editing experience on NLE systems my first responsibility was to transform the company from analogue to digital editing. My job at SABC during this time consisted of editing news spots, magazine inserts and vision mixing the live regional news broadcast. With very little time to edit a news story we used analogue two machine edit suites. I had to record the reporter’s voice-over and mix the spot for broadcast minutes later; the vision mixing job entailed a daily 1 hour live regional TV broadcast called Cape-at-Six, with live-studio guests and live crossings to reporters in the field.
