Following my adventures of being self-employed, I was offered this amazing opportunity at Kingsdown to manage their new state of the art manufacturing facility. Here I was able to use my experiences of production planning as well as hands on knowledge of the industry to help get the new factory up and running. Select Highlights: • Re-assembled a new core production team of over 30 individuals and lead them in the setup of a new 100,000 Sf manufacturing facility in Burnaby • Revamped production capacity from being supplied with finished product from our partner facilities to the point when our factory and production team was able to produce more than the required demand • Developed a detailed machinery maintenance schedule including itemizing and recording of all spare parts to assure the optimal performance and minimal downtime • Left the company in a healthy position with a strong core team and streamlined processes allowing them to manage further production growth with ease Show less

This was my first endeavor into the world of entrepreneurship and what an adventure these few years were. While my main focus was still in the operations field, I broke out of my comfort zone and dove into the world of sales, began sourcing and importing raw materials and started a delivery business. To this day I still greatly value the experiences (both good and bad) that I encountered. Select Highlights: • Sourced, imported and sold raw materials from various Chinese manufacturers to local businesses in the home textiles, bedding and furniture industries • Designed and implemented a quality control program for a large mattress manufacturer in Toluca, Mexico • Trained the production staff (of the same Mexican mattress factory) on how to make a new style of mattress which became one of the company’s bestselling private brand mattresses across their 200 plus retail stores • Successfully relocated a local kayak paddle manufacturer from Surrey BC to their new head office in Osceola WI USA saving the company over $100,000 USD vs the next closet quoted move rate. The project included the itemizing of all machinery and raw materials for customs clearance • Designed and laid out a 30,000 sf mattress factory in Regina SK including the training of new staff for various production processes Show less

What originally began as a part time job back in 1995 while I was working my way through my Diploma in Operations Management at BCIT ended up turning into my first great career opportunity for a very rapidly expanding company. Of the many hats I wore, the highlight for me was the opportunity to oversee the layout and design of a new production facility. The planning for this project began 2 years prior to the move in which every detail was taken into consideration based upon where the company was and where we planned on going. Select Highlights: • Sourced and purchased raw materials and machinery from local and overseas vendors • Built and maintained strong partnerships with key vendors to improve product quality, shorten delivery lead times and negotiate competitive prices • Visited multiple factories across North America to study and learn best industry practices • Worked closely with all production lead hands to regularly implement new techniques and processes to maintain the companies continuous improvement philosophy • Successfully headed up the move of existing 30,000 sf manufacturing facility to new 60,000 sf facility including the design and layout of all manufacturing processes and machinery placement Show less
