      Receive, log and store seized property and evidence. Perform data entry of seized articles, drugs and firearms on a local records management system, computerized tracking system and on existing manual file systems. Process, record and file related hard-copy documentation. Check court records to determine the status of seized property and evidence. Conduct criminal records checks and property checks using local records management and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) systems regarding Restricted Weapons Registration Forms and Authorization to Transport (ATT) forms. Respond to general inquiries by providing information on the procedures to apply for a Possession Only Licence and Possession Acquisition Licence. Contact the public to obtain information if forms are incorrectly completed or insufficient information is provided. Type Health Canada forms with respect to each drug seizure. Ensures the Office of Controlled Substances is continually advised until drugs are destroyed. Provide and exchange information to external law enforcement agencies regarding seized property, evidence and firearms information. Prepare correspondence, type reports, receive and file correspondence and documents. Maintain lists and statistics of evidence tracking for drugs, gun program statistics and information on money received as required for the Solicitor General. Travel to other police divisions to pick up evidence. Transport items to disposal companies. Bi-annually audit all monies received for statistical tracking reconciliations. Contact officers to clarify occurrences missing numbers regarding dispositions and incorrect drug charge wordings. Physically handle firearms to ensure safety; verify model and serial numbers against forms and issue property tags. Perform other related duties as assigned. On an occasional basis, perform Drill Sergeant Major (DSM) duties at ceremonial parades in the absence of the Waterloo Regional Police Service DSM. Show less
