Journal Hotels was an industry-leading manager and operator of lifestyle and hospitality assets. They operated hotels in New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Palm Springs. Through our well-rounded expertise in exceptional hotel management, along with a creative, independent approach to branding, and highly visible cultural activation; we oversaw a supreme collection of lifestyle properties. We were all about “stories”, we were entertainment centric, it was the thread that tied the collection together. Each hotel stood on its own brand and the owners vision and through the act of storytelling, we structured and expressed each individual hotel experience and understandings in a form that could be passed on to others -- as words, imagery, music and film. The role of VP Sales and Marketing provided property support and guidance for each individual hotel and sales team. I worked closely with revenue management to implement sales strategies, mix of business, channel management, pricing strategies and marketing initiatives to achieve budgeted revenues and fair share within the competitive set. -Monitored achievement of objectives for the sales team and took appropriate action to correct shortfalls versus the annual marketing plan. -Developed an active e-commerce plan per hotel for on line digital and social media -Interview, select, train, coach and support sales teams ensuring they have proper tools and sales knowledge to represent and sell their respective hotel properties. -Designed and coordinated advertising, public relations and promotional campaigns for each hotel including email marketing, special events and trade shows. -Attended weekly sales and revenue calls with each hotel Show less
