Having volunteered in various roles over many years, this is the one that has grabbed my heart most. Rescued greyhounds are the most beautiful of creatures and it gives me great joy to see them arrive, often scared and injured, and see them blossom from the touch of genuinely affectionate humans who have their best interests at heart, not the $$$ they could win. Vollies arrive for their shifts and it is easy to forget everything else that may be going on in their lives for just a few hours at least once a month. (Most of us do more though!) Show less

I am proud to have been awarded a Cook Community Award in 2016 in recognition of what I achieved in building and strengthening The Beauty Bank. Firstly, building and maintaining a good rapport with our volunteers was paramount to our success. I was responsible for all aspects of donation acceptance, storage and despatch. Financial operations include the incorporation of The Beauty Bank and attaining charity status and grant writing. Primarily I was also responsible for liaison with community services, organisations, groups and other charities, such as Dandelion Support Network, Caringbah, NSW and also managing our relationships with local social and case workers in groups such as Family and Community Services. I managed all of the inbound and outbound communications, including our social media presence. Whilst our founder, Jen Armstrong, is in demand as a corporate and leadership speaker, I found my niche talking at local service clubs. Show less

Key to this position was the liaison with potential patients, answering queries by phone and in person and making bookings as a consequence of that. Patients attended for a series of sessions so developing a good rapport with them was essential. This position also encompassed a wide variety of administrative tasks, including admission and discharge of patients from the hospital, keeping medical records up to date, ordering stationery and liaising with all levels of staff. • Medical Secretary
      • Dec 2003 - Oct 2010

Dr Freiman was the sole practitioner until Dr Ben Terkasher joined the practice in January 2010. I was one of three part time staff keeping the office running smoothly for the doctors. Duties included developing a good rapport with patients, maintaining the medical and hospital appointments diary, confidential files, developing a good relationship with Medicare, Department of Veterans Affairs and health funds with regards to patient accounts, a large volume of medical Dictaphone typing using the Olympus dictation system and ordering office stationery. The medical software used was JAM and Microsoft Office. Show less
