Financial Planning is in charge of budget control, projections (current year), forecasts (3-5 years forward) for the university. This information is assessed, analyzed, and the results are officially submitted for information (and as recommendation, when needed) at the Board of Governors.I oversee the budget well-being of half the university (faculties and services). I asses, analyze, review and report (formulate recommendations, on occasion) with regards to :- Day-to-day budget management,- Twice-a-year forecasts (after the Fall / Winter student enrollments),- Annual 3-year projections (process is to review prior years' financial situation for every faculty / service and asses current and future years' budgetary needs). This involves : an annual trend analysis, ratio analysis, and benchmark analysis (within the university) are conducted, and key variances are analyzed. This allows to determine areas of concern, disparities between the allocated budgets for every unit, as well as evaluate the performance of units, on a financial basis (this is used with other qualitative tools, to ensure optimal use of University ressources and ensuring strategic priorities can be met).
