Critical Shortage Teacher

I currently teach as a critical shortage teacher due to the national shortage of certified teachers. I am responsible for providing for students who are identified as at-risk within our District. I teach both ELA and Social Studies which requires multiple strategies to address deficiencies found in students and decrease the achievement gap. This requires ongoing personal development to increase my teacher's toolbox designed to address all learning styles and needs. I also serve as a Mentor Teacher to incoming teachers who have entered the workforce from a traditional or alternate teaching certification program. Show less

Assistant to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools

I oversaw and planned all staff development opportunities for administrators and teachers within the Diocese of Alexandria. In addition, I was responsible for obtaining grant funding for non-certified teachers to provide financial assistance in gaining certification. I prepared all certification implementation plans and met with teachers yearly to assess their progress. I maintained and submitted all state required reporting for the implementation and usage of Title I funds within the Diocese schools. I supported and completed all documentation for students who attended Diocese schools as exchange students from countries outside of the United States. I served as Test Coordinator for State Assessments. I served as liaison between parents, administrators, and the Superintendent of schools by fielding questions and concerns related to student issues. I maintained and distributed a yearly calendar with all school events within the Diocese. I was over the Student of the Year Program which was inclusive of all private schools within the Diocese and surrounding areas and was required to distribute guidelines, organize judges for student selection, and submit selections to the State Department. Trainer of Trainers - P.B.I.S.

I facilitated and trained administrators and teachers for the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions at all Rapides Parish Schools. I trained within various school districts across Louisiana. I served as facilitator for Region VI, which is inclusive of 7 districts, training, and supporting schools and districts with the implementation of P.B.I.S. I was also a trainer of trainer with SOS (Signs of Suicide). This job required planning, organizational, presentation, collaborative, and communicative skills in working with multitudes of schools and districts. While there has been a shift to MTSS which is inclusive of the academic and behavioral aspects of student support, PBIS was the precursor and closely relates to MTSS. Show less
