Dianne presently works in the department of the Student Support Services (the SSS). She teaches EAP in Grades 9 and 10 (English for Academic Purposes). The EAP course is aimed at meeting the specific language needs of English as an Additional Language (EAL) students, in order to facilitate effective access to the curriculum across all disciplines. It can be seen as a natural continuation of the EAL support class offered in Middle School. Dianne takes on the role of 'case manager' for a number of High School students, supporting their linguistic and academic needs either during classes in other subject areas or during study halls (for Grades 11 and 12). She has been proactive and instrumental in identifying students who require extra help and has been thorough in drawing up IAPs for each. I have been impressed by her involvement showing a genuine concern for students' welfare, social and emotional needs and academic progress. She continues to do an excellent job in this position of support.
