Piedmont North B and Piedmont North A had to combine staffs at the beginning of the second semester. There was a great divide between the two staffs that caused a small amount of unnecessary strife. So the returners of B, including myself, decided to call a meeting between the two staffs so that we could garner a better understanding fo each other and work well together. We had one large meeting to discuss the divide, and what we could do to improve it. The meeting resulted in a Piedmont North being a cohesive unit, and improving communication drastically.

The communication on my team during the first semester of my first year as an RA. There were complaints that there were cliques amongst the staff. To help with this I scheduled a karaoke night for everyone on staff to come together and have some fun while we sang some of our favorite songs. This was an opportunity for everyone to chat and dissolve the existing cliques. After this night we noticed a tremendous improvement in the communication amongst our staff and there were no more complaints of cliques.

During my time as an RA at Patton Hall one of the large complaints I got from not only my residents but residents throughout the community where that there were very limited opportunities for them to not only get to know people on their floor but people from other floors. So another RA and I planned a program to take residents to a local farmers market for them to meet other people and for them to get to see more than just the urban side of Atlanta. The program turned out to be a huge success. We had a great turnout and I witnessed residents meet and greet each other as we walked to the farmers market. Some of the residents met some of their really good friends at this program. My fellow coworker and I were able to develop a better sense of community in Patton through this program and give the residents what they wanted out of their residential experience.
