At HBW we work to create a digital repository of historic books that are parts of black culture. My job is to contribute to this repository using my computer science knowledge and scan books. Here I've used my CS knowledge to conceptualize and start designing a digital website for historic comics. At Code ninjas I helped kids learn to code in a fun, safe, and inspiring learning environment. My role was to help kids understand code and encourage a safe, respectful but fun environment for the kids. I worked mostly in Javascript, C++, and a bit of Lua. This helped me better understand effective debugging and taught me to explain why and how specific code works simply and effectively. At Cerner I worked on the real-time Health Systems Team, I built a conditional DNS forwarder using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, this fixed overloaded DNS servers in Cerner's network and difficult to configure settings. My forwarder allowed for simple configuration of servers and automatic synchronization through a github repository using webhooks. This application sends specific DNS requests to user-configured downstream servers to not overload Cerner's DNS server.
