The aim of Tous chercheurs is to make different scientific methods understood and used by different audiences (high school students, patient associations, etc.). I worked as a scientific tutor for a group of high school students. I helped them to develop scientific reasoning and guided them through the different phases of project development such as experimental design, manipulation, data analysis and oral presentation of their results. I studied the adult neurogenesis in rodents olfactory bulb. My Ph.D main project was to compare the role of different sub-populations of interneurons role in the bulbar network functioning and odor behaviour. Using transgenic mice, viral injections, patch-clamp recordings, confocal microscopy and pharmocogenetic tools combined with odor behavior tasks, I compared the electrophysiological and morphological properties of 2 two interneuron populations and their involvement in mice odor discrimination. I have also been involved in 2 other projects, one that revealed a new form of synaptic plasticity (Breton-Provencher and al., 2016), and another one that described functionally distinct populations of interneurons in the OB their distinct roles during different odor tasks (Malvaut and al., 2017). I was in charge of : - Development and management of the research project; - Development and implementation of experimental protocols; - Writing of scientific articles, reviews, and funding applications; In addition, I also: - Participated in several national and international conferences; - Received 4 first prizes for excellence in scientific presentations; - Participated as a tutor at the International Summer School of Neurophotonics.
