Deke is everything you could want in an HR leader. Wise, patient, caring, fair, steady. He genuinely cares about the people he works with, and this comes through in public and in conversations about how to help employees. He also takes his responsibility and stewardship of the organization very seriously. He's committed to the vision and values of the company and points to those when guiding people through potentially un-fun conversations. He's been an ear and sounding board when I've needed it, he's helped me talk through some complex situations, and he's kicked me in the metaphorical pants a couple times when I've needed it.
