    • Writing Tutor

As an individual that has always enjoyed English and writing, working as a writing tutor to help students to strengthen their essays and writing skills was extremely fulfilling. I would assist students in writing essays, personal statements, and research papers. This allowed me to assess students' learning needs and weakness while answering their questions and recommending different writing methods. This in turn helped me become more critical of my own weaknesses in my writing and strengthen my own skills. This experience was quite beneficial and strengthened my abilities in research writing. • Chemistry lab teaching assistant
      • Jan 2021 - May 2021

Due to Covid-19 restrictions still being in effect in the Spring of 2021, class sizes had to be reduced and professors were required to teach between two classrooms simultaneously. I served as an assistant to a professor by supervising small groups of students and assisting them with qualitative analysis in their weekly experiments. As a student who had previously taken this course, I understood the importance of having assistance from the professor and provided that additional attention and assistance to students that needed it when the professor had to be in the other classroom. As a volunteer at UMC New Orleans LCMC Health, I was responsible for filing patient documentation, answering patient call lights and prepping patients rooms for the nurses. I would also retrieve patients and their families to bring them back to their rooms. However, my favorite aspect was interacting with patients by doing patient care surveys. By doing these surveys, I was able to hear from patients about how they felt regarding their pain management and how their treatment was going. In addition, patients were able to voice how their physicians and nurses could better assist them. Show less

    • Excellence In Cardiovascular Science Summer Research Student
      • Jun 2021 - Jul 2021

I spent the summer of 2021 as a student researcher for Wake Forest School of Medicine in their EICS program and presented a poster presentation on cardiovascular and cancer research. My research presentation concerned PLIC-1 knockdown and its differential effect on cardiac and cancer cells to determine the effectiveness of PLIC-1 morpholino as a nontoxic cancer therapeutic. During my time in the laboratory, I learned skills such as how to conduct cell proliferation and cell viability assays, cell cultures, XF96 assays, western blots, and immunocytochemistry. Show less
