Deirdre provided invaluable insights and advice throughout the development of TRAUMA, an exhibition at Science Gallery Dublin aimed at 15-25 year olds. TRAUMA explores physical, psychological and societal traumas, with a focus on recovery and resilience - and it was important that the intersection between art and therapy featured throughout the exhibition. As part of their training for the exhibition, Deirdre spoke with our student mediators about art therapy so that they could discuss it with visitors to the exhibition. As one of the top 5 free visitor attractions in Ireland, these conversations reach tens of thousands of visitors, and are at the core of what we do. Deirdre explained art therapy in a way that engaged and inspired our mediators. Her enthusiasm for the work has translated to the conversations mediators are having with visitors, and is helping us achieve a key objective with this show - which is to encourage people to talk about trauma and recovery as a universal process.
