Working with Prof. Hirofumi Tanaka towards surface engineering of carbon nanotubes (CNT) by functionalizing them with core-shell metal nanoparticles (NP) which were synthesized using wet-chemistry. Develop thin film devices of solution processible CNT/NP by direct transfer on glass or Si/SiO2 substrates. Presently examining the non-linear electrical information processing ability via in-situ characterization to elucidate on the structure-property relation and aiming to apply the device for in-memory computing. Worked with Dr. Chandramouli Subrmaniam in three projects. 1. A collaborative work with Applied Materials (AMAT), IIT Bombay, involved in developing carbon based MEMS supercapacitor devices. My key responsibilities were to develop CNT conductive inks and paste stabilized by surfactants and study their rheological and electrical properties. Focused on optimizing the surfactant to CNT ratio and CNT concentration to get the dispersion of desired viscosity. Further fabricated micro-electrode patterns via photolithography on Si substrates and analyzed the coating adhesion of various CNT dispersions via different coating methods. 2. A collaborative work with Applied Materials (AMAT), IIT Bombay, involved in laboratory scale electrodeposition of aluminum using ionic-liquid electrolytes. Studied the surface properties through microscopic and spectroscopic techniques to have an understanding of the roughness and surface passivation occurring through electrodeposition and improve its quality by adjusting the electrolyte concentration, electrodeposition potential and scan rate. 3. Utilized conductive CNT inks to coat synthetic yarns with the potential of using it as a wearable supercapacitor and electrochemical gas sensor. Performed mechanical testing to analyze the effect of coating on the yarns tensile strength. Show less
