My primary job with DCFS is to maintain ongoing support for families, who have previously been involved with DCAC. Some of these families have completed services from DCAC , but could still benefit from support and/or being linked to resources. I also contacts families, who may have chosen not to use DCAC services, but need follow up to provide ongoing education of the signs and symptoms their child may experience. These discussions help parents recognize their child could benefit from therapy. If a family determines they are now ready for services, I begin the. screening process to help the family return to therapy at DCAC. Show less

I started my career investigating child abuse and neglect, as a Child Protective Service Investigator. After seven yrs of CPS, I achieved my MSW and began doing Family Preservation. This position involved working with families in their homes on achieving and maintaining safety in their home, establishing healthy boundaries, as well as communication skills and conflict resolution. Eventually, I became a Program Manager, and then spent my last five yrs with DCFS, as an Administrator over the Transition to Adult Living. This position included overseeing and leading four teams of case managers, who were working a majority of the teenage foster care cases in the Salt Lake Valley Region. As an Administrator, I learned how to provide strong leadership and manage around 45 people. I used solid organizational skills to create processes, which helped move cases through the system.
