Making connections with other organisations, establishing our right to be seen as a local supportive LGBT charity and of course building the communities confidence in Four Pillars. Offering various social groups and one-to-one support for individuals, carrying out events such as Grampian Pride and outreach through schools, collages and universities to our latest project; the first LGBT+ hub in Grampian, Four Unity. Four Unity is open 5 days a week offering a safe space for individuals to drop-in, relax, get advice & information, Safer sex provisions and support whilst socialising with others, building relationships and growing confidences. This has to be my biggest achievement and has allowed me to pass-on the chair role and expand the organisation through a full time position as CEO Show less

Alongside management and administration I had the responsibility of being on the front desk. I would welcome any clients entering the office, receive all phone calls and deal with enquiries. People found me approachable and trust worthy and would often use my open door policy to drop in for coffee and a chat on a regular basis. This allowed me to build a personal relationship with service users which opened the doors of trust and honesty. I maintain a belief that in order to protect or support a person we need to do so on a holistic view. With this in mind I always work on 4 pillars of support for each person, these are; Physical, Mental, Emotional and Sexual. Without one of these pillars in place I believe the other 3 would fail, leading the service user back in a complete circle. To help each individual with regards to these 4 aspects, I use my knowledge, training and experience to support or sign post the person as necessary. Show less
