More of a challenge than a resolution this year for me with a move from the tried and trusted to the fast growing Zest Media ~ Absolutely Magazine, a new brand comprising 13 titles unashamedly aimed at fashion-conscious, high-income women, living and working across London. It's a big lifestyle change using the tube but with the warm welcome, a palpable air of energy and excitement in the office and the creative environment and great facilities at Westbourne Studios, I feel at home right away. With a big number birthday this year it's great to have a different focus . I feel very hopeful and energised about the future

For about 10 years now I have been gladly turning up twice a month for WBG. It's a really fab cooked breakfast and good company. I enjoy the debate and being with so many experts in their field. We argue a lot and then come to a group agreement about what next for the group. My responsibilities were numerous and wildly varied. It was essential to be adaptable. Apart from the ususal administrative sales and pa stuff, I enjoyed taking on the human side wherever possible to help keep the place running happily. This job really reminded me of when I was in music; working with individuals who are all experts in their field, where every link in the creative chain is essential to deliver a perfect 'manufacturing' performance My responsibilities were numerous and wildly varied. • Flute Teacher - Privately and in schools
      • Jan 1989 - Dec 2002

I used to teach the flute and recorder to adults and kids, in and out of school. I love music, and it has always played a significant role in my life - so I got great satisfaction from engendering that same lifelong love of music in other people. It was during this period, when my most important role was to be able to identify the problem and being able to explain the solution 6 different ways to find a match that clicks with each individual, that I developed my communication skills. Once I was in their lives for the initial music lessons, I would often find myself then helping children in other ways, with their literacy and confidence, helping them get to the school of their choice.
