  * Provide supportive counseling therapy to patients and families who are coping with stresses related to death and dying. * Educate the patient and family on communicating with one another by incorporating both life and end of life issues in preparation for the death event. * Utilize the family system concept to assist the family in caring for their loved one and provide support during the end of life. * Assist in obtaining resources from the community to lessen the burden for the primary caregiver and their families or significant others. * Discuss issues related to spirituality and belief systems. * Provide counseling with children of terminally parent before and after the death of parent. * Facilitate bereavement groups in the community. * Provide bereavement counseling for family member and significant others following the death of a patient.
