'Routes into Learning' Project Coordinator
-
Jan 2003 - Jul 2005
Ran an education project funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) for asylum seekers, refugees and new EU accession state nationals. Worked in partnership with other agencies in the public, private and voluntary sectors to develop new courses and workshops appropriate to clients’ needs and to make existing provision more easily accessible to those who needed it, while also giving advice and guidance on routes to careers and advising on eligibility for funding. Was responsible for the project budget and for writing quarterly reports to the NRF; also compiled a successful bid for two years’ extension funding as the pilot phase ended. In the second phase the project developed from a purely education-centred one into a more employment-oriented programme which focussed on clients’ existing skills and experience to help them work towards re-entering the profession in which they had worked in their home country.
