I teach creative writing in both graduate and undergraduate classes. I specialize in Creative Nonfiction. My recent research interest includes the video essay and creative writing studies. In the past, I've taught Introduction to Literature, Film and Literature, the Short Story, World Literature, Women in Literature and basic composition courses. My major area for the PhD was Women in Literature with a minor in Autobiography. My creative dissertation was a memoir. My masters degree concentrated on poetry. I have an undergraduate in International Affairs and English with a minor in French.I am the author and editor of a book on craft: The Anatomy of Narrative: Analyzing Fiction and Creative Nonfiction, 2007, 2012, Kendall/Hunt. I've also published in The Sun, Apalachee Review, The Arkansas Review, Pakistaniaat, The Literary Review: A Journal of Contemporary Literature, River Teeth: Journal of Nonfiction Narrative, International Quarterly, The Florida Flambeau, and FSView. My poem "Silences" was included in the anthology Stone, River, Sky: An Anthology of Georgia Poets, Negative Capability Press, 2015, and my essay "The BB Gun" was included in the anthology Becoming: What Makes a Woman (U of Nebraska Press, 2012). I'm the Creative Nonfiction Editor at Pakistaniaat: A Journal of Pakistani Studies. I advise Odradek, an undergraduate literary journal at Valdosta State University where I am an Associate Professor of English.
