My primary role involves producing menus, posters, flyers and other marketing and POS (Point of Sale) paraphernalia as and when required by the pubs that are owned/run by the company This often occurs at short notice or with a very short turn around time, so it helps that I can prioritise tasks to make sure that everyone gets what they need on time. In addition to this, I also help to organise events, book in adverts with local newspapers, keep track of printer maintenance and place stationary orders. I try to divide my time so that each task gets done in the correct order and finished to a high standard, but I also make sure that I have enough flexibility to help others with their work to take the pressure off during difficult and stressful periods. My responsibilities included customer service, handling money, making sure that everything was clean and tidy and keeping all snacks and beverages fully stocked. I also had to check deliveries, provide customers with information about the pub and the events that occured there and setting up the stage area to prepare for live entertainment nights. When I became one of the more veteran members of bar staff, helped to supervise new employees whilst they were being trained. As well as editing press releases and inputting neighbourhood new information, I was also tasked with fact checking and making calls to relevant parties to clarify information. In addition to this, I wrote reviews of local gigs and events, films and exhibitions. Worked as part of a production group in 3rd year of university to produce a cultural journal - personally wrote articles about cultural clothing choices, attending festivals and carried out interviews, as well as having an equal role in editing and layout. Achieved 1:1 grade for finished piece. Work experience at local newspaper (The Visitor, Morecambe) which lead to a years paid position as Editorial Assistant. Had specific jobs to do, such as editing and inputting letters/information from external sources, as well as being given other tasks from senior members of staff. Had to use initiative and multi-task to make my work easier and more efficient. Also, in my spare time, wrote cinema, theatre and gig reviews, which got published under my name. Helped to set up a more modern newsletter for local charity counselling centre, for experience. Teamwork & Leadership Worked as part of a customer sales team at JJB sports, dealing with customers problems and assisting colleagues when necessary. As an online shopper at Sainsbury's, I worked individually to collect customers orders, as well as being part of a team that made sure all orders were met on time. Worked as a student guide on open days at Keele University. Spent time both working with other guides manning a help desk for prospective students and their parents, coordinating other members of the team and leading solo guided tours of the campus and answering questions.
