Making sure projects are organized and stay on schedule are important aspects of this position. Another facet about this position is the broad range of different projects I am involved in which allows me to gain a wealth of knowledge across all aspects of the banking industry. The current project I am working on consists of reorganizing and streamlining the entire mortgage application process beginning with application submission to final processing of the loan. I was fortunate enough to jump into this process at the end of 2012 in the underwriting capacity which allowed me to gain a full understanding of the entire process and areas where efficiencies could be gained. More recently I have taken a step back from the day to day duties of underwriting to concentrate on improving the process as a whole. When there is a break between projects I seek out areas that can benefit from process improvement whether it be from an adjustment in processes or through the use of technology.

While my main focus has been a Commercial Credit Analyst, I have been given the opportunity to participate in other aspects of the bank. In October 2011 I was appointed as Project Manager for the implementation of a new loan application system. When the mortgage refinance market was seeing record volume, I was temporarily transferred to the Mortgage Underwriting division to help ease the workload. While at this position I was able to facilitate the improvement of several processes in order to run loans through more efficiently. Since the refinance market has slowed my focus has moved onto training and education which is also a vital aspect of loan quality and efficiency.
