We all owe much to our editors. Dean Golemis has been one of the very best with whom I've ever worked - his ability to see what was meant, to clarify thoughts and ensure prose of perfect precision, is pretty well unmatched. My CRITICAL FOCUS column in The Microscope is a series to which people say they return; so the articles have to be right first time. Thanks to Dean, there're as close to correctness as we can get. As a rule, after an editor has attended to text, every writer goes through and spots the infelicities that didn't catch the editor's eye. There are very few when Dean has been to work, and I thank him eternally for his unfailing professionalism and wise advice.
