In the role of Curriculum Leader for Higher Education Computing my responsibilities have been diverse and challenging however have had lasting impact enabling success of students and staff in a range of areas. Over many years the Computing department has transformed its HE provision and in many areas is an example of good practice throughout the College. The construction of these programmes has met with high standards and involved meticulous engagement with the research to form detailed strategies and operational procedures as well as detailed relevant outcomes. This has led to the first degrees approved through Lancaster University's fast-track validation procedure, the first college with degrees accredited to Level 6 with the British Computer Society and the Tech Partnership. Senior Demonstrator - Games Concepts

This part-time role involved looking after Labs for first year students in Games Concepts and C++ modules. In this role, I supported Games Concepts students in completion of lab worksheets and assisted in debugging and working through problems such as collision detection. In working here I gained some excellent insight into different working practices which aided in enhancing my own practice with cleaner code and more structured approaches to state machines and other key structures. The students worked with C++ / Direct X 9 using UCLAN's own custom T+L Engine to introduce students to the concepts. Show less
