David is a passionate, and compassionate, graphic designer and creative director who has an innate understanding of how to work with clients and creatives to achieve a balance of strategic direction and personal vision. I have worked with David in several capacities over the course of 15 years. First, as colleagues, he and I worked as graphic designer and editor, respectively, on a wide range of print publications. David was always one of my most favorite designers to work with because even though he does see words as "design," he also understands how editors/writers understand words as "editorial." This is just one aspect of David's exceptional ability to collaborate with an open mind. Later, as David's supervisor, I discovered his outstanding leadership skills and ability to motivate his peers, and clients alike. One of the most valuable aspects of David's approach—from a managerial and creative standpoint—is his ability to bridge the gap between creatives who are focused sometimes solely on their personal vision and the client, who may have conflicting aesthetics and priorities. This has always been a key to Dave's success. He has a sincere and abiding interest in the goals and views of others. He is always respectful and easy to work with. He is even tempered and eager to understand things from various points of view. David's consistent determination and true passion to achieve marketing genius AND artistic excellence at once has been an inspiration to others. David is highly valued in the work place and I hope he always has the opportunity to achieve and contribute as much as he has to offer. In addition, this person has a good sense of humor and a calm demeanor. Now that I am out on my own, David Duran is a creative director I know I can always turn to for advice or help, and I do!
