David is one of those unique individuals who understands complex problems and techniques, and can articulate them in a simple way so anyone can understand. He is very creative and--given enough time and resources--could likely solve just about any problem.

I met David during my contract with RTC. He was one of the most inspiring people to work beside, always seeming to have not only an answer for any question, but meticulous details and descriptions that prove his thorough understanding and passion - especially with 3D printing/modeling. His strong attention to detail prominently carries through to his more analog skill sets as well, such as sketching and prototyping, as he efficiently provides innovative solutions for any given task.

Flex Force is a R&D company in the military sector, specializing in the design and production of offensive and defensive technologies. Their two primary products include the Dronebuster, a handheld RF counter UAV (drone) jammer, and the ASP, a gyroscopically stabilized weapons mount system optimized for land and marine operations. I work as a full time, in-house mechanical design engineering contractor. My main focus is leading the design for the next generation Dronebuster, managing and updating all mechanical elements of the last generation Dronebuster, and redesigning the grips and M2HB trigger mechanism on the ASP. I collaborate often with our RF engineer and circuit board designer to design RF shielding, run stackup analysis, optimize heat dispersion, prevent unintentional RF interference, and ensure reliable manufacturability. Other tasks include component selection, vendor and manufacturer liaison, production and prototype assembly, product testing, creating dimensional documentation, promotional renderings, and assembly instructions. I design and build fixed blades, folding knives, EDC tools, and occasional jewelry in my home workshop. The materials I primarily work with are stainless and damascus steels, titanium, wood, G10, and micarta. The entire process of turning these material into tool is done in house. My Freelance Design work is ongoing, and I'm always looking for more work. Some of my past work includes medical devices, pet products, occupational therapy tools, trade show posters, magazine ads, product sketches, 3D modeling, catalog covers, a medical EKG ruler, patent drawings, web site product images, and more. My capabilities include digital sketching, 3D Solidworks modeling, 3D printing, advanced prototyping, design for manufacture, and photo real rendering. I have a full machine shop in house, which includes a drill press, bandsaw, 2x72 belt grinder, mill, sandblaster, buffing wheel, precision inspection and measuring equipment, airbrush, and more. I am also setup to work with electronics, build circuit boards, and program with Arduino to construct interactive working prototypes. This all allows me to satisfy my client's needs and bring their ideas to life on a budget. Show less

Worked multidisciplinarily between industrial design and mechanical engineering. Designed LED retrofit, cooling system, and enclosure for professional stage lighting. Maintained and updated previous product line. Extensively explored materials and manufacturing methods to develop functional and low cost solutions through to production. Branched out from our customer base and began research, design, and development of lighting products in other industries. I led design and mechanical engineering brainstorming sessions to solve problems for our clients, determine manufacturable internal mechanisms that accomplish necessary tasks, and reduce cost of production by simplifying the geometry or utilizing innate material properties. I designed test fixtures to run cycle tests and failure analasys involving heat, pressure, flex, extreme environments, and repeatability. I worked to creat client presentations, dimension drawings for machining, constructed prototypes in machine shop, and built robust, easily editable, Solidworks models for production. I designed products in the categories of tools, medical devices, food preparation, safety equipment, home goods, and automotive accessories. Show less
