I am the K-5 Resource Teacher at two sites with San Rafael City schools. I split my days at each site and service all the special education students on my caseload. I provide pull-out and push-in services for my students in a small group or individualized instruction. I provide differentiated instruction meeting the needs of the different learning styles among my students. I have implemented GLAD strategies in a differentiated way to meet the needs of my 90% of English language learners following certification this year. I work collaboratively with other staff members, both in special education and general education teachers. I write effective Individual Education Plans with IEP goals aligned to Common Core State Standards. I have experience writing Behavior Support Plans and providing necessary supports to students who need individualized behavior plans. I write effective assessment reports and take ongoing data in order to report on progress towards IEP goals. I provide students with technology integration and include social emotional development strategies within my instruction. Show less

I worked as an education specialist through a half time internship while earning my education specialist teaching credentials from Dominican University. Through this internship I managed my own half time equivalent caseload and created a schedule that met the needs of my students. I was supported by both the university as well as the district and was provided a mentor who was another education specialist at my site. I provided both pull-out and push-in services for my students and provided differentiated instruction towards my student's IEP goals. I led lunch time social skills groups to address the needs of students who had Autism and fostered an environment where students could learn explicit social skills. I led IEP meetings, conducted assessments, collected data, reported on progress reports, collaborated with teachers, led professional developments with support of my team for teachers, as well as paraprofessionals. I managed 8 paraprofessionals along with the other education specialist and provided them with a schedule, trained them to collect data, provided them professional developments once a month, and trained them to run small group instruction.
