Title: OPTIMIZING THE GROWTH RATE AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF THERMOPHILIC CYANOBACTERIA BY USING MODIFIED BG-11 MEDIUM Objective: I. To observe the effect of the growth of thermophilic cyanobacteria on various types of modified BG-11 medium. II. To maximise the biomass production, we used various types of modified BG-11 medium. III. To analyze antioxidant activity and total phenol content from modified BG-11 medium using the DPPH method analyzed by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. Signifance of this studies: Because thermophilic cyanobacteria can decompose the use of effluent in the modified culture medium BG-11 of thermophilic cyanobacteria, I was able to successfully modify the BG-11 medium. The addition of flue gas and nutrients to the cyanobacteria will benefit their growth and antioxidant activity. In addition to their ability to withstand the high CO2 concentrations found in flue gas and the potentially deadly SOX and NOX pollutants, thermophilic cyanobacteria can also fix carbon through photosynthesis, which makes them ideal for the development of CO2 mitigation technologies based on their carbon fixation capacity. This method would be cost efficient since, when compared to pure culture techniques, the use of inexpensive substrates requiring fewer energy inputs and cheaper equipment might minimise production costs. Therefore, as their competence in many applications shows a good response, this new approach to modification technique will get more interest. Simply put, thermophilic cyanobacteria aid in the neutralisation of harmful wastewater, particularly industrial effluent. Show less
