This firm specializes in property insurance law and provides effective legal representation to policyholders who have been wrongfully denied or underpaid by their property insurance providers. Apart from representing homeowners, the firm also represents third party restoration companies who have provided services to policyholders under assignment of benefits contracts. My role here is dynamic but is mostly centered around the pre litigation process for 3rd party AOB cases. I am in charge of processing new incoming cases, sending out Notices of Intent, reviewing policies, negotiating and settling cases in pre litigation, reviewing releases and drafting complaints to file suit and serve cases that proceed to litigation across all Florida counties. To help the firm accomplish this in a high volume setting, I also manage and oversee a remote team of five employees. As a part of this role, I develop close relationships with the representatives of these mitigation companies and frequently provide updates and answer questions regarding their cases being handled at PLG. For approximately four months I worked as a litigation paralegal for third party cases and still often perform live English to Spanish translations for mediations as well as prep clients for depositions. Beyond this, I am also responsible for e-filing and serving all of our first party homeowner cases. Show less

    • Chemistry Lab TA
      • Aug 2014 - Dec 2014

As a general chemistry lab TA at FIU, I was responsible for teaching three lab sections of approximately eighteen students each. My duties, besides teaching students lab techniques and general chemistry concepts, included creating and conducting evaluations in the form of lab reports, quizzes, exams and practicals.

    • Learning Assistant
      • Aug 2013 - Aug 2014

As an FIU Learning Assistant I worked directly with the Department of Chemistry faculty who teach general chemistry to provide in class, live support to the student learning experience. I was required to take a chemistry pedagogy course where I learned various ways to engage students and challenge them to find solutions to problems using their own knowledge and experience. After my first semester as a learning assistant, I began working as a learning assistant specifically for Dr. Swamy who was conducting research sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute on the effects of having a flipped classroom for chemistry education (meaning students would watch video lectures at home and do practice work during class). As a learning assistant for Dr. Swamy, I continued to take on essentially the same role except that I was in the classroom every single day and was assigned my own group of approximately 40 students who I would help as they worked on problems during class or during my scheduled office hours. I became very comfortable meeting and communicating with new people and the experience made me more creative in how I could express ideas to others. Show less
