Many projects also required database redesign, including table normalization. • Assisted in the modification of a Visual Basic application designed to generate HTML using parsing techniques, HTML Help, and Active-X components. • Revised the Complaint Tracking System for the Member Relations Unit, using Access with an ODBC connection to mainframe DB2 tables. Redesigned the Access table structure, increasing efficiency. • Rewrote the Special Investigations System used to track insurance fraud. Used Access with VBA and redesigned the database structure, reducing its size by 80%. This was critical because the system had 5 databases and over 300 users. • Developed the Image Queue Reporting System to support customer service staff. This system used a sequential file of medical data generated from the daily work queue in an Oracle database and loaded into an Access system with complex logic to ensure that none of the 100+ users got locked out. • Developed a Cellular phone Billing system to read and manipulate billing data sent on CD and loaded it into an Access database so that each user could look up his/her own bill. Coded in VBA to disable bypass keys to protect access to sensitive data. • Developed the ACD Reporting system in Access to track and report phone utilization by agents. Telephone data was imported to the mainframe DB2 database and accessed by the Access system via an ODBC connection. • Enhanced the Continuing Education Program, a system to track and report staff training and certification, including multiple state certifications and history. The system was tied to a DB2 database via ODBC and handled some electronic data transfer for state reporting. Enhancements included streamlining the system, reducing 60 – 80 man-hours/week to approximately 1.5.
