LocalGov Drupal is a collaboration of 29 (and counting) councils across the UK. One of my main jobs as Product Lead is encourage councils to work with each other, and put forward ideas and features for inclusion in our product. David understood this perfectly. When Waltham Forest joined, he suggested a working group for content workflow. Our product included some of this, but David saw the opportunity to add more features, making it useful for many more of our councils. David volunteered to lead the group, and canvassed his team and other councils about their needs. He wrote specifications for each feature, acted as Product Manager for this work at sprint planning sessions, and led user testing efforts. David has been one of our most active and productive members, and I was sorry when he got a new role! I rate him highly - he's a great Product and Usability Manager - and is an asset to any team.

David brought many a skill to us here at City Hall. His background in marketing and SEO matched well with our need to create engaging and easily found content, and he was consistently producing clear and interesting pages from the off. David led on a fair chunk of some key engagement work – creating campaigns, encouraging social sharing and forever promoting email newsletters. The results have been a fantastic contribution to an increase in the understanding of the work of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. David also brought with him an interest in analytics. Following best practice from GDS (Government Digital Service), David implemented and reported on an improved Google Analytics, using Tag Manager to tell us ever more about how people use our site, and help us identify areas to improve. David has been fundamental in maintaining and enhancing meta data, analytics, online forms, sharing journeys, campaigns and innumerable items of content for london.gov.uk. He brings a can-do attitude, with the confidence, evidence and gusto to challenge – ensuring an agile and user focused approach is always followed.

Product Lead for the new Waltham Forest website, launched in November 2021, using Drupal 9 and the LocalGov Drupal beta codebase. Created user stories and acceptance tests, planned sprints, drove the roadmap, and acted as the main point between the product team and the technical team. Planned and delivered user research with a sub-section of residents to validate the build, drive improvements, and dive deeper into user needs. Line managed 4 content designers and a data analyst to complete a content migration and reworking to deadline. A heavy contributor to the LocalGov Drupal collaboration, sitting on the Product Group, shipping features as the lead of the Content Lifecycle and Publishing working group, and being the first council to launch a full site in the beta phase.
