For over 11 years I have been the main point of contact for the environment department with site supervisors/managers and oversee the day-to-day activities of environmental officers, laboratory technician and various consultants. I also manage the sites hydrometric and environmental monitoring programs, which includes monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. Other responsibilities include: • Reviewing certificates of Approval and Permit to take water permits & resulting compliance sampling programs. • Reviewing Provincial Water Quality Objectives limits on water quality and water quantity as outlined by various permits & making sure all data is compliant with relevant permits and regulations. • Twenty one hydrometric flow/level stations for year round monitoring (closed and open channel) using a variety of flow measuring equipment (FlowTracker, Price Meters, Acoustic Doppler profilers, etc) as well as all the data processing of flow/level data including the development of stage/discharge curves, weir calculations and dilution rates as well as the installation and maintenance of telemetered hydrometric stations. • Conduct in-house lab testing (TSS, pH/Conductivity, Chlorides, etc) to ensure compliance with applicable compliance regulations, following required sampling and quality assurance protocols and make recommendations to mine facilitates (tailings management ponds, discharge dilution rates, water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant). • Spill Response Coordinator; responsible for containment and clean-up of large spills in environmental sensitive areas and reporting/correspondence with MECP. • Setup and maintained complete meteorological station, which is fully telemetered for remote site applications. • Ensure my team contributes to the safety culture of the workplace by training crews about working in extreme conditions while using a variety of equipment and that such equipment, facilities and vehicles are maintained.
