David and I worked together at the Xbox Operations Center at Microsoft. I really cannot say enough good things about him. He was always incredibly knowledgable and helpful with any questions that I or one of our peers had about databases or SQL. I wrote multiple PowerShell scripts that contained SQL and as our on shift DBA SME, he was always the first person I would go to for a code review. He would provide suggestions and fix any errors that may have been in my code as well as there were a few instances where he would write a custom bit of code to help accomplish one of the tasks I had. He is always a team player and has no problem helping out the team with any kind of work wether it be database related or not. I would highly suggest David to any employer looking for a quality database administrator to join their team.

The service you manage is down, no one can log in, and your operations team is scrambling to get things working again. Did I mention that it is 2am and your service is very popular 24/7, so any outage is incredibly visible, so if this goes on for too long, then it will make the news? As your team starts to grasp the scope of impact, you find yourself not in need to reach out to the on call database administrator to restore service, because this incident is about to become resolved all due to one man on your team, David LaMont. I cannot understate the level of commitment that David LaMont has for the work he does. When I had Mr. LaMont on my team, I knew that I had someone who would do more than just try to Band-Aid a problem, but understand how it came to be and work to build a long-term fix, his approach to incident management and database administration quickly made him indispensable to our team and greater organization. Simply put, Mr. LaMont has put a positive mark on Xbox Live with his passion and perseverance. If you are looking for the "business as usual" kind of DBA, the kind that says that work stops when the clock is punched, or the kind that likes to just escalate tickets because a problem is too hard, then I cannot recommend David LaMont to you. Should you find that these aforementioned statements describe a culture that you want your team to avoid, then there is no better person than David. Businesses that need the best to produce the best require the absolute best, and you'll find that in David LaMont.
