With over 30 years of experience in the nonprofit ecosystem, I bring an extensive background to the Tri-Valley Conservancy with an emphasis on strategy, leadership, and growth. My major accomplishments span organizational management, strategic planning, operations, finance, human resources, fundraising, marketing, communications, and mission-based program expansion. I"m responsible for leading the organization in the execution of the strategic direction and overall program management. I oversee a $27M endowment including studying market trends and ensuring the organization has the financial capabilities to achieve its mission. I build, implement, and manage a $1.6M annual operating budget, focussed on organizational scaling, and update financial systems to digital applications. I design fundraising and marketing strategies, integrate updated brand, position, and messaging into all communications systems, and create resource development plans focused on organizational growth. In programs, I created a new Conservation Department and promoted an existing employee to manage the department and its current staff. I developed plans to expand programs in 2023 which are currently being implemented successfully. I've built a highly comprehensive strategic staffing plan with the goal of doubling the current staff size in under 12 months. My focus in human resources has been on creating new core values, and building a culture of inclusivity, peak performance, high engagement, trust, and work-life balance. Show less

Based on the success of my first three tech startups (Nonprofit Shopping Mall and two related brands), I created CharityAdvantage, building a highly successful company that offered website and fundraising services to thousands of organizations. The success of this startup came from my knowledge and experience in business strategy (especially startups and growing enterprises), unique leadership abilities, fundraising, growth-focused sales and marketing, building large collaborative teams with a progressive company culture, and matching goals to the overall vision as part of a strategic process. We built our own enterprise CRM and I managed a multimillion-dollar digital marketing budget that included paid and organic media such as email marketing, SEO, PPC, video, influencer, display (buttons and banners), effective website design, social media, content marketing, digital press releases, web page testing/conversions, database marketing, and analytics. I continued to consult with nonprofits in every essential form of fundraising including membership development, personal giving, major gifts, planned giving, grants, and digital. I developing strategies that raised millions of dollars in donation revenues. I also trained nonprofits on board relations, improved volunteer recruitment and management, and made a big impact on nonprofit event marketing. Show less

I created this social enterprise by donating fundraising software and computers to nonprofits, using my experience in fundraising, ecommerce, and entrepreneurial tech startups. The initial success of CharityAdvantage helped drive this mission. While we helped hundreds of organizations through these donations and it was very successful, it seemed clear that a larger program was needed that could offer inexpensive recertified computers that nonprofits could purchase. This helped us meet a larger base of organizations that we could assist with very low-cost technology. First being introduced under the CharityAdvantage brand, it later became NonprofitComputers under the division of The Nonprofit Technology Group, and since that time, I have helped thousands of nonprofits save over $120 million from buying new computers. NonprofitComputers is a very successful ecommerce social enterprise that was developed using my unique skills in web/tech startups, business strategy, organizational leadership, and strategic growth. Also contributing to this success was my 20+ year knowledge in digital marketing where I have successfully marketed across all major digital channels, and built strategic relationships with key partners. After consulting nonprofits through the 1990's and producing results through effective fundraising, I started DonorsPlus, then launching the Nonprofit Shopping Mall in 1999. This enterprise offered an affiliate-based ecommerce fundraising platform and it was a very successful tech startup in the earlier days of the Internet. The web had just become commercialized a few years prior, and I was also one of the early leaders in the concept of “online fundraising”. Organizations were able to instantly get a 21-page online shopping mall populated with over 150 of the top web merchants. Nonprofits would send their constituents to shop through the mall which connected those shoppers directly to the merchant’s ecommerce websites with affiliate tracking. Commissions were paid for each sale by the merchants to us, and the nonprofits got a large percent of those commissions. I started the company using my skills in startups, strategic planning, leadership, and organizational growth. I managed the software development project for the platform, and grew our team while creating a very positive company culture. One of my specialties was managing digital marketing through all available channels including banners, SEO, discussion forums, enewsletter advertising, partnerships, and more. I also consulted hundreds of nonprofits in fundraising. Show less
