My work was focused on the production and characterization of Polyethylene terephthalate NPs model. The laser ablation technique applied in water allowed to synthetize NPs propas close to reality. The model was characterized in terms of physicochemical characteristics and interactions with xenobiotics. The effect of NPs was evaluated on Caco-2 cells and macrophages. The tests were performed on single cells and on differentiated intestinal barrier model. The impact of NPs was evaluated by the standard toxicological assays and by metabolomic. Part of my research was spent to develop composite material, for the purification of water from heavy metals and bacterial contaminants. A single-step route was adopted to decorate melamine foams with silver nanoparticles to obtain a porous material with bactericide activity, while to remove heavy metal from water it was developed a nanocomposite, using a solid matrix of regenerated silk fibroin to immobilize in titanate.
