Judge Irene Scott was an excellent, hardworking jurist and a pioneer among women in the federal judiciary (appointed to the Tax Court in 1960). From Union Springs, AL, she never abandoned her roots. Attending law school at the University of Alabama, she had to interrupt her studies upon her father's death and became the Law School's librarian. She was beloved by her clerks, staff and fellow judges. It was a pleasure and an honor to serve her for 2 years.
