Great memories working together on end-to-end projects that intersected both digital and physical spaces! David always stayed calm and cool-headed even through some challenging projects and I especially valued his pragatism and design background to help problem solve and get things over the line, made it super easy to work together.

I was engaged by the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust to act as the client’s project manager for 3 interrelated scheme developments on the site: No.1 Workbase: A feasibility study and design scheme to RIBA Stage C of existing buildings for reuse as core Trust business purposes. This part of the dockyard is the heart of the original 16th Century dockyard, and the collection of buildings that make up No.1 Workbase were constructed over a period of some 100 years and therefore vary in structure, materials and condition. The new facility will contain the Trust’s Library & Archive collections, the Restoration & Conservation departments, the Maintenance Workshops, volunteer welfare areas and the main administration offices. Armour Plate Shop: The design and construction for the repair and adaption of the former Armour Plate Shop, to create an on-display engineering and maintenance facility for the Historic Dockyard Railway. The completed project accommodates a number of semi-public engineering activities that form the core workshop and volunteer facilities and will allow public access to view these activities. Mast House, Mould loft & Wheelwrights Shop: A feasibility and design study to RIBA Stage B/C to determine the best options and phasing for the renewal and refreshment of the main visitor entrance and front of house facilities. The study examined the physical relationship each area has to each other and encompassed visitor flow, optimum size, best location, absolute requirements etc. This included car parking, orientation, entrance & ticketing, retail, cafe, landscaping and the major refurbishment of the Wooden Walls Gallery and the integration of the archaeological ships timbers find from the Wheelwrights shop.
