    • Instrumentation and Control Engineer
      • Nov 2014 - Oct 2017

Design Engineer during the Installation and Commissioning stages of a Major Project.Responsibility: To provide assurance, through oversight of the contractor supplier, of the Safety Commissioning stages of the project.Achievements: Performing a thorough review of the schedule of safety commissioning tests the contractor supplier intend to carry out. I have been able to put to good use all I have learned and experienced on the project and within safety systems in order to ensure that the schedule is all encompassing of the safety case (from a Control, Electrical and Instrumentation/CE&I perspective). Reviewing the test documentation currently being produced, witnessing the testing of the equipment, and seeing the project through the final stages of commissioning. In preparation for the next years' work I have been developing a similar, but more detailed, configuration management tool to that I developed for the Safety System reviews in a previous role. This tool will act as a central 'hub' for all the test documentation, linked to all the relevant safety case clauses, and ultimately it will aid both myself and all those involved in the commissioning process to provide assurance to the company and the regulator that the full safety case is being/has been tested and commissioned. • Instrumentation and Control Engineer
      • Sep 2012 - Jun 2014

Design Engineer during the Detail Design and Procurement stages of a Major Project.Main responsibility: To undertake design and testing activities, and provide assurance and oversight of the contractor supplier during commissioning, in particular within the Safety Systems discipline. Other responsibilities: To assist the Head of Engineering Improvements in the implementation of a company-wide Engineering Improvement Programme and to support the Head of Engineering and Technical Contract Management in the running of a company-wide contractor supplier alloance arrangement.Achievements: Setting up comprehensive safety system design review where I developed, initiated, and controlled a Configuration Management Dashboard for the reviews. This tool proved essential in keeping the reviews to the tight schedule.Authorship of a Design Justification Report for all the EC&I Safety System trips/alarms for the interface between a new and a legacy plant. Paramount to the production of this report was knowledge of the safety systems lifecycle and the International Standard for the design and build of electronic safety systems (IEC 61508). I had sole responsibility for supporting this report through various regulatory reviews, ultimately gaining full endorsement for the project which allowed the safety case, and the project as a whole, to move on to the next lifecycle phase.Factory Acceptance Testing for the Safety System logic solvers.I actively sought out separate additional roles within the company during this period, one of which was a role on the Engineering Improvement Programme. My achievements here were performing an overhaul of part of the company's Major Project design review process. I interacted with all relevant stakeholders to gather opinions on views as to any current issues with the process, devised a new format, and managed expectations of the stakeholders to gain buy-in from all parties.
